The crankshaft position sensor tracks the crankshaft’s position and speed, while the camshaft position sensor monitors the camshaft’s position relative to the crankshaft. The engine control unit (ECU) uses these readings to adjust fuel injection and ignition timing. When the data from these sensors does not align properly, engine timing is disrupted.
